Plummer Terriers Out In Force At Chetwynd Park

THIS year looks set to be an exciting one for the Plummer Terrier Association with a host of events and activities planned.

The first show of the year started off very damp but it was very well attended by the loyal members, new and old. The atmosphere was fantastic and a great time was had by all who took part.

Created primarily to work rats and rabbits the Plummer Terrier, is named after it's creator Dr David Brian Plummer, and has a mixture of Jack Russell, Fell Terrier, Fox Terrier, Bull Terrier and Beagle blood.

The show, run by the Plummer Terrier Association was supported by performance dog food experts Alpha Feeds, who supplied bags of feed as prizes.

Judge Mr Drew Smith had a very difficult time as the competition was high, but did a great job in the rain.

In accordance with the tail docking law they did not run the usual puppy classes as there were no undocked puppies in attendance.

Winner of the adult dog section was Cwm Garw Senior owned by Adrian Gardner closely followed by Glyndbourne Ice owned by Karl Devlin and Irlam Fly owned by Roy Tickle.

The adult bitch section was won by Broken Stock Bramble owned by Paul Brown, with Phoenix Lal owned by Ian Amys in second and Stanwell Twinkle owned by Roy Burkin in third place.

Best in show went to Cwm Garw Senior with Broken Stock Bramble in reserve, while Lakota Gall and Tallahassee Bear father and son owned by Helen Gilkes and Dave Simms took top spot in the Progeny class.

Pairs combination Toh Kon Judy and Irlam Fly owned by Roy Tickle won the pairs section followed closely by Broken Stock Bramble and Broken Stock Asbo owned by Paul Brown and Stuart Davies, and third place went to Cwm Garw Senior and Remlap Taz owned by Adrian Gardner.

Irlam Fly owned by Roy Tickle came out on top in the best terrier entered followed by Remlap Taz owned by Adrian Gardner and Lakota Gall owned by Dave Simms.

There were just two entries in the veteran class Lakota Gall and Stanhill Billy, and the standard was so high that they were awarded joint first.

Jill Jones of the Plummer Terrier Association said: “Alpha Feeds are very supportive of the Plummer Terrier and we are very pleased to have them sponsoring our events.

“The Alpha Feeds range provides everything working, active dogs require and the association is very grateful for the sponsorship.”

Added Jill: “We would also like to thank Tom Bracegirdle for the Best in Show trophy, Stuart Davies for the Clock and Austin Devine for sponsoring the rosettes for this show their sponsorship is much appreciated.”
